Good morning and happy Wednesday! I hope everyone’s week is going great so far. My week has been pretty uneventful due to being cooped up most days due to the snow, but today the sun is shining and the snow is finally beginning to melt! I love snow days (and got through a good chunk of Grey’s Anatomy 😉 ), but I started to get a hint of cabin fever.
Yesterday was the first day since Thursday that the roads seemed pretty clear, so my Mom and I ventured out to lunch at Commune. I was such a fan of this little brunch/lunch spot that I figured I would do a review for you all!
Located in the Vibe District of Virginia Beach, Commune has a seasonal menu that focuses on locally-source, organic ingredients, which I love! This was my first visit to the restaurant and you guys…it was incredible. I had such a hard time deciding on what to order, but eventually went with The Big Backyard Salad. It was a fabulous choice!
My Mom ordered the Fried Chicken on a sourdough brioche and was throughly impressed.
The ingredients were so fresh and prepared beautifully. My salad included roasted root vegetables (beets, radishes, sweet potatoes), creamy goat cheese crumbles, wheat berries, spring mix, hard-boiled eggs sprinkled with turmeric, crunchy sourdough croutons, pickled mustard seeds, and a delicious tahini dressing (I am going to try to replicate this ASAP!).
